Boogies Trains

Old and new on Britain's railways. The railway is in a constant state of change. What is common place one day soon becomes history. This channel is my attempt to record the everyday ordinary before it disappears. I am based in the London Borough of Bromley so my main focus is the London area. The back catalogue charts the changes over the past seven years and also looks further back to the 1970s when I was taking 35mm slides. There are also mini series about the history of the early railways around London and how they are used today. I publish regular new videos so it is always worth coming back to this channel. It is even easier if you subscribe and ask RUclips to notify you when a new video is published. The big story over the next couple of years is likely to be the introduction of new rolling stock and the cascading of the older generation to new duties. HS2 and other major projects will also feature as they become more visible.

The next episode from my visit to Cologne starts at the west end of the Hauptbahnhof. Trains heading west have a range of routes available including the Cologne to Aachen High Speed Line towards Belgium.

A look at the iconic railway bridge over the Rhine in Cologne. There are over 1200 trains a day over the bridge. The movement is almost constant. This video is about the bridge. I'll look at the trains on the bridge in more detail in another video.

In this first episode I look at the route from Uxbridge back to Rayners Lane. This effectively completes my look at the western end of the former District Railway and current Piccadilly Lines. Originally planned by the District, the branch was built by the Metropolitan.

TfL has five stations with Ruislip in the name. In this video I visit the three that are on the Central Line starting at South Ruislip. This section of the Central line runs parallel with the Chiltern route from Marylebone to Birmingham and Oxford so there is also some action on these.

Nice video. The ICE 3M with the blue stripe is set 4601 named "Europa / Europe". The blue stripe is the blue EU flag.

Some seriously nasty graffiti on the rolling stock, unfortunately. Definitely worse than it was about 12 years ago, when I used Köln Hbf. Thanks for these updates though.

Given the announcement about delays caused by track repairs I assume the second part of your video was filmed on a Sunday. Nice to know that they, too, are "sorry for the inconvenience caused"!
Some of my material was definitely on a Sunday, however I observed significant delays on ICE services from both the north and south at Cologne and Dusseldorf over several days. RB and RE services were also not as reliable as I would have expected 10 years ago.

Not likely to happen soon I'm afraid. My next exotic trip away is to the Isle of Man. There are several more videos of the Rhine and Moselle area to come.
Good video as always. I have often been on Orpington to Victoria stoppers that get held up at Shortlands waiting for a fast to come through. When the delay is more than a couple of minutes, as was the case here, I wonder why the signallers don't let the stopper through and then put it in the loop at Kent House. Is it the result of pre-programmed signals and consequent absence of flexibility?
The stopper is occasionally allowed to go on and might be looped at Kent House or even Herne Hill. The latter is difficult because Thameslink is usually coming along soon and needs to be on time at Blackfriars.
Been to Beckenham Junction and it’s a good station. Haven’t been to Shortlands but been past it.
The lines you filmed at around 10:40 are to the left (as viewed) of the HS2 line of way emerging from the tunnels. They are sidings for the delivery of tunnel castings that come by train from Grain I believe.

Siemens who are to manufacture the new Piccadilly Line tube trains are expected to enter service from next year which would be nice to see.

4:36 does anyone know what those numbers are for on the left hand side of the tracks? Great video as always boogie.
They are markers each one carriage length apart. It gives the driver certainty of the train's position relative to a specific place. Often used where a train needs to pull forward before setting back.

I definitely would like to ride on the Manchester Metrolink trams as I never been to Manchester before.
You should do a video on the new Class 805 Evero that is now in service.
Manchester Piccadilly needs more extra platforms to cope with overcrowding especially on platforms 13 and 14.
I do like the new TfW Class 197. They do look very nice.
Very nice station with lots of trains coming and going.

The Central Line itself needs new tube trains at some point in the future. I don’t think I have been to Ruislip before.

The London Northwestern Railway Class 730/2 should be in service sometime later this year. Have you seen the new Avanti West Coast Class 805 that is now in service.
Love to go to Cologne. I have heard that it’s such an amazing city in Germany.
Southeastern should plan ahead to replace the Class 465 and Class 466 Networker trains with new trains whoever wins the contract to manufacture new rolling stock. And the 2 remaining Class 707s to be transferred from SWR so that all 30 Class 707s are now with Southeastern.
hey apparently from december the orpington service will be restored to 4tph off peak and saturdays :)

My local station. Not quite as busy as it used to be with two slow and one fast per hour to Victoria withdrawn. The 4 tph to Blackfriars didn't survive COVID either. We need a faster Thameslink service and one that goes beyond Blackfriars to unlock the possibility of journeys via the Elizabeth line.
